Kathak recital casts a spell
AHMEDABAD: A kathak dance recital, on the theme aesthetics (rasas), was staged at Natarani as part AIAF.
The programme began with Samvedana, an innovative presentation depicting trance-like quality created by Krishna's flute.
The poem was written by Ishira Parikh. This was followed by a Thumari, 'Kahe rokata dagar pyre', a composition by Bindadin Maharaj, in Bathek style.

The rendition concluded with pure dance (nritta).
Ishira drew amazing visuals on the stage with her body, each angle making a perfect pose, each hastaka etching a beautiful design in space and the face reflecting a sparkling imagination and vision of an artist.
Ishira's entry on the stage was preceded by a group of kathak dancers showcasing the superb quality of 'abhinaya' in fusion with excellent footwork.
The enchanting music and vocal support by Niraj Parikh and excellent tabala accompaniment by Maulik enhanced the beauty of the production. Jignesh on tabala, Shreyas on flute, and Ikramkhan on sarangi were brilliant on their respective instruments.
Expression of aesthetics (rasa) in kathak through the various percussion compositions cast a spell on the audience.
